Slough Removals Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Slough Removals in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Slough Removals is committed to conducting all aspects of its activities with the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and respect for human rights.
Modern slavery is a serious crime and a grave violation of fundamental human rights. It can take many forms, including slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, debt bondage, and human trafficking. Slough Removals recognises its responsibility to identify, prevent, and address modern slavery risks in every part of our removals, storage, and related services.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
Slough Removals has a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with or support any business, contractor, or individual involved in modern slavery practices. All employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers are expected to uphold this commitment.
Where we become aware of any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery, we will act promptly and decisively. This may include suspending or terminating relationships, reporting concerns to relevant authorities, and supporting any investigation as required. We are committed to implementing appropriate disciplinary action against any employee who breaches this policy.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Slough Removals provides domestic and commercial removals and associated services. Our supply chains include vehicle and equipment providers, storage facilities, packaging material suppliers, recruitment agencies, subcontracted labour, and other professional and maintenance services.
We understand that modern slavery risks may arise at different points in these supply chains, particularly where there are low-skilled roles, high turnover, or complex subcontracting. We are therefore focused on strengthening our processes for supplier selection, management, and oversight.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
Slough Removals is enhancing its due diligence procedures to reduce the risk of modern slavery in our supply chains. Before engaging new suppliers or contractors, we assess their ethical standards, labour practices, and compliance with relevant legislation. We expect suppliers to confirm that they do not use forced, bonded, or involuntary labour and that they provide safe and fair working conditions.
We are implementing proportionate supplier audits and checks, which may include requesting modern slavery statements, reviewing policies and procedures, and conducting site visits where appropriate. Suppliers that present a higher risk, such as those involved in labour provision or low-paid manual work, may be subject to more frequent or detailed reviews.
Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. If adequate improvements are not made, we reserve the right to end the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Slough Removals encourages open communication and expects all workers, suppliers, and business partners to report any concerns related to modern slavery or human rights abuses. Concerns can be raised to line managers, senior management, or through our internal reporting channels.
Reports may be made confidentially and will be treated seriously, promptly, and sensitively. We will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith. All reports will be investigated, and appropriate action will be taken in line with our zero-tolerance policy.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery among our employees, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management. Training will cover the signs of modern slavery, how to raise concerns, and how to apply our policies in day-to-day operations.
By building understanding and awareness, we aim to ensure that all staff recognise their role in identifying and preventing modern slavery risks.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery sits with the senior management team at Slough Removals. They are responsible for reviewing risk assessments, monitoring the effectiveness of our controls, and ensuring continuous improvement.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually to reflect changes in our business operations, legal requirements, and best practice guidance. The review will consider any incidents, audit findings, and feedback from stakeholders, and will inform updates to our policies, procedures, and training.
Slough Removals is committed to improving our processes and transparency over time and to working collaboratively with employees, suppliers, and partners to help eradicate modern slavery from our industry and supply chains.
